Sitec are currently looking to recruit a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for a nuclear MoD establishment in Reading. The post is for an estimated 12 month contract and is paying on an hourly basis circa £45.00.
Successful applicants will be required to be Security Cleared prior to appointment.
Job/Role Purpose
To provide Manufacturing Engineering and Technical support to Manufacturing Process areas and Project management teams throughout our client’s site. The main purpose of the role is to lead Process design, development and introduction of best manufacturing practice in terms of productivity, reliability innovation and quality to the workplace, also to lead complex problem resolution of manufacturing problems.
Key Accountabilities
To project manage the introduction of new manufacturing processes into the workplace by delivering the agreed Manufacturing Task Plan, identifying and meeting all regulatory and legal requirements.
To maintain a Project Gateway status for each Manufacturing Engineering Project being delivered and present status as required to project teams and management.
Undertake Manufacturing Engineering investigations of facilities and processes with the aim of improving productivity, quality and/or resolving complex manufacturing problems.
Key Responsibilities
To ensure that I understand and apply my responsibilities with regard to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards.
Ensure that all stakeholders are kept informed of any circumstances which might reflect on safety, security, efficiency and the management of the facility.
Support promotion of the use of MA procedures, ensuring that appropriate standards are maintained at all times.
Support Quality, Safety, Projects, Facility and any other relevant department as necessary.
Develop MEs, Graduate ME, Technical Apprentices and other production staff in Manufacturing Engineering Competency.
Support the Principal Manufacturing Engineer in his duties.
Qualifications
HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or Degree.
An Incorporated or Chartered member of either the IET or IMechE, or working towards membership.
Knowledge
Detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes Machining, Presswork, Moulding, Metallurgy etc
Design of components
Tool design and manufacture
Process knowledge of special material manufacture and Material properties
Process documentation generation
Project Management
Complex problem resolution techniques
Business improvement techniques
Working knowledge of manufacturing control systems
Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems
Achieving a competency score of 85% and above, when reviewed against the client and MPEG competencies.
Experience
Must have a proven track record and a wide range of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in high value, low volume industries.
Skills
Computer literate.
Able to understand technical drawings and specifications.
An awareness of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Quality Tools and Model Based Realisation.
Behaviours
Proactive, self motivated with a ‘can do’ attitude.
Confident to communicate at all levels within the MD function.
Display leadership skills, and be confident to work in multi-discipline team environments.
Flexibility in work routine to meet demands of the job.
